The autonomy and freedom to do anything.

As a kid, many of you get an allowance, a small sum of money each week either via chores or for some lucky people, just for existing.

As an adult, you control that allowance, albeit from a different source.

If you work hard, you play your cards right, you can significantly control the size of that allowance.

But, you quickly learn that this is the best and worst thing. It needs to be controlled.

So, as an adult, I choose not to buy that gaming machine.

This is a paradox of adulthood: you have the ability to do whatever you want. But if you do whatever you want, you lose the ability to do whatever you want.

You must protect yourself from yourself.
